The flock of tribble-fish are making their annual stop in their yearly migration pattern at our home. I think they summer in Australia.

This is fascinating. Previously I had only known tribble fish to roost in artificial conifers. This is the first time I have seen them roost in building structures. Of course being the only species of fish to live in trees I guess it shouldn't be surprising to see them adapt to other non-marine habitats.

You are mistaken, sir. This particular flock of tribble-fish has never been known to roost in artificial conifers, only the real sort (albeit cut and no longer growing). In this case, they have taken up temporary residence in a wooden railing, so I guess dead trees are dead trees to them. :)

Ah yes. My memory was faulty. Tribble-fish have previously roosted in deceased natural conifers not artificial conifers. You are no doubt right about the the presence of the wooden railing providing a homelike habitat for them.
